Water and borehole projects
Repairing and building water points to reduce disease, save time and improve school attendance
Safe Water for Rural Communities
Access to clean water remains a major challenge in many rural communities. Pallisa district alone has more than 498 villages, with an average village having 250–300 people. Many villages do not have even a single borehole.
Women and girls may walk 1–2 hours to the nearest well, carrying 10–20kg of water. Poor access reduces hygiene, increases illness, creates time poverty and contributes to school absenteeism when girls are sent to collect water.
Golden Rainbow has repaired 60 non-functional boreholes, supported construction of 20 new water points and improved access to safe drinking water.
